Op-ed: After the tavern floor is mopped, Eric’s footprints will be gone from the city (by Peter Children)

Now it’s the statues, next it’ll be something else and all who visit here will be rightfully pissed.  You will rant and rave about injustice, about how things aren’t fair.  But you won’t do anything about it except run off at the mouth.

Ever since Eric took office this town has seen more than it’s share of upheaval and controversy, usually one after the other.  The small cadre of Eric’s supporters have taken pot shots against the truth I have written, all of it from behind the veil.  Threats and innuendoes were thrown down in attempts to stop what everyone knew was the truth, but the threats were as empty as one of Eric’s beer cans.  Our court system operates on the truth system, they even want you to put your hand on the bible, this is done to further insure the truth. You can’t pray in school but in the courtroom they bring the bible out.

To take me to court for what was done in public places would only magnify it, bring a stronger and brighter spotlight down upon it; these people are not rocket scientists but they are not that dumb. Eric is worried about his legacy, about what it will be that will mark his term in office; I can assure you he will leave his footprints here, that is a certainty, but once they mop the tavern floor, those footprints will quickly disappear.

Eric hired a Development Director who works in the same building as Robin; up to now there has been no development, maybe he could stand watch over the statues…he and that other kid who has something to do with a “main street” program, whatever that is.  I knew people just like those two….they were called siding salesmen.  When I was young I did that as well, but then I found the Lord and with it total redemption.  Ever since then I have been a front line fighter for Jesus….but, if you’re really serious about siding your house, then get in touch with me, I’ll get you the best price, bet on it.

There is a serious solution to all of this, and it’s always been there, it’s called the voting booth. If you visit this place, you can with a slight movement of your wrist change this nightmare into a bright sunny day. Just do not vote for Eric or Solberg or Turncoat, or Hickey….and when reelection comes for the other three, do the same thing.  Stop running off at the mouth and vote, put some weight behind your words.  These people count on you, they count on you staying home or on the barstool come election day.  The statues are the least of the problem in this city, change the line up in City Hall and you won’t have to worry about things like that again. Try and surprise them this time…..go vote.

  1. “You can’t pray in school . . .”

You can pray in school all you want to. The prayer just can’t be led by school personnel.

What version of the Lord’s Prayer would you have a teacher use, the Catholic or Protestant version? Or if the teacher is Jewish, should he/she recite verses calling for the real Messiah?

Maybe the state should stay out of it altogether.

  2. Hello Pot…..You will rant and rave about injustice, about how things aren’t fair. But you won’t do anything about it except run off at the mouth.

  3. Ah, but an important skip it is.

If the people aren’t constantly reminded of the crap at City Hall they won’t recognize the smell.

Thanks Matt and Peter keep them coming!

      1. You’d be amazed at how liberal I am on some matters! I am a firm believer in separation of church and state. I believe in gay rights. I believe in abortion under specific circumstances. But I believe in personal responsibility and do NOT endorse cradle to grave care for everyone by the government. That is NOT its function.

      1. The part when told people to get off the bar stool made me laugh. You basically are saying that the people that need to get out and vote are the drunk, lazy people.
