MASON CITY – Phase 2 of the sanitary sewer improvement project is progressing as scheduled.
This phase of the project is on South Federal Avenue between South 8th and 10th Streets (see photo, looking north, on South Federal Avenue). Both northbound and southbound lanes in this area are a single lane and restricted to 10’ wide.
The first two sewer connection bypass points are completed.
The floor and walls of the concrete box culvert have been replaced and the backfill process has begun. Concrete for the street may be poured later this week.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes of South Federal Avenue between South 8th and 10th Streets will be single lane and restricted to 10’ wide for the remainder of this week.
Please exercise caution while traveling near or in the work zone. Expect congestion and delays around this area while the street is under construction. Be watchful of construction workers and equipment if you are traveling near the work zone. Motorists are urged to avoid traveling in this area and plan an alternate if possible. Staff apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
