A man who transported two boys across state lines to molest them was convicted by a jury on July 5, 2012, after a three-day trial in federal court in Cedar Rapids.
Michael Goodale, age 31, from Mason City, Iowa, was convicted of two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, two counts of interstate transportation of a minor for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual activity, and one count of accessing child pornography. The verdict was returned following about two hours of jury deliberations.
The evidence at trial showed that, between 2008 and September 2011, Goodale performed sex acts with two boys aged 9-13, both in Iowa and in Minnesota. Goodale also viewed child pornography on a laptop computer in 2011.
Sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Goodale remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. Goodale faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, $1,250,000 in fines, $500 in special assessments, and at least 5 years and up to life on supervised release following any imprisonment. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Mason City Police Department.
According to his Facebook page, Goodale lists his favorite quote as “Do on to one as u want them to do on to u.”

Burn in hell. Even hell is to good for him!!!!!!!!!
Hope the scumbag get life and is miserable the rest of his time on earth.
i called the police several years ago after a near ugly experience with my son. they couldnt help me because what i related to them was “hear say”. after that i spent several hours calling all the places i had heard he worked, mostly with children, telling my name and story. if i ever saw him in public i wasnt afraid to call him out. saw him at the roller rink one night and told him to leave. advised the owner what he was. then there was the horrible night he put his car in a pond with three dependent people in it. i was sick, thinking if someone would of listened this wouldnt have happened. words cant even explain how i felt when i read the article. over and over about 30 years minimum. what a huge relief to have him off the streets. my heart goes out to the young victims and pray they have support to help heal. thank you for the update. was so afraid he would get another slap on the wrist.
this person is a very sick person and needs alot of help why is my question, WHY
Thank You Lord for this blessing of sending his pathetic excuse into the big house where I can only pray “he gets done to him as he has done onto others”…Great update! Thank you for making my day!
