Dorothy Ellen (Enfield) Bergan, age 97, formerly of LeRoy, MN, passed away peacefully on December 2nd, 2025, in her home in Seymour, IA. Dorothy was the daughter of Elga and Ellen Enfield, born in St Ansgar, June 22, 1928, joining three siblings. She spent most of her life in the rural LeRoy area. Dorothy graduated from Riceville HIgh School in 1944, especially enjoying playing basketball. Growing up on a farm, Dorothy developed a strong work ethic. While working at the LeRoy Bakery, she met Curt Bergan and romance bloomed. Married in 1947, they farmed together, milking cows and raising crops and kids – Doug, Stan, and Diane. Always a big gardener, baker and cook, her kitchen was always welcoming, and her house neat and tidy. Dorothy’s embroidery basket was always nearby, quilting projects ongoing. Though she also worked off the farm at a variety of jobs, she still found time for shopping. Dorothy dearly loved all of her family from her kids to her great-great grandchildren as well. In 1989, Dorothy and Curt moved to LeRoy. Curt passed away in 1991. Later, after losing both of her sons, she moved to be near Diane in Seymour, IA, but still lived in her own home.
