Michael Lyons, 86, of Le Roy, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, IA.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Le Roy, Minnesota.
Michael Leslie Lyons was born on January 12, 1939, to Roger and Eleene (Boomhower) Lyons in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1957. In 1979, Mike married Janice Nelson. To this union, they had 4 children: Roger, Shelley, Valerie, and Pauline.
Mike had a long and successful career in the family business, beginning as the President of Lyons Cleaners & Launders, Inc. in Mason City, Iowa, until a fire closed the business. He then moved to Forest City, Iowa, where he owned and operated Forest City Cleaners. Mike soon after was the manager of One Hour Martinizing in Newton, Kansas for JW Enterprises of Wichita, KS, followed by being the general manager of the London Drycleaners of Milwaukee, WI, as well as a sales representative for Kentey Corp., selling dry cleaning and laundry supplies in the Chicago area. Mike later owned and operated Lyons Cleaners in Orange City, IA, and Sheldon, IA, along with 7 agencies in the surrounding towns. He later sold these businesses and retired to be with his family.
Mike had a deep love for nature. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing and camping; rarely heading out without taking his boat along for the adventure. He cherished his grandchildren, especially the moments spent teaching them and sharing his well-meant (and often unsolicited) advice. Mike carried a sharp memory and a generous spirit, qualities that shaped every relationship in his life.
Mike is survived by his wife Janice of Le Roy, MN; his children Roger Lyons (Lisa) of Forest City, IA, Shelley Anderson (Steve) of Forest City, IA, Valerie Johnson of New Hampton, IA, Pauline Groe of Holly Springs, MS; grandchildren Jason Lyons (Katrina) of Lubbock, TX, Tamara Rasing of Rockwell City, IA, Kyle Johnson of Waterloo, IA, Seth Anderson of Independence, MO, Sarah Anderson of Olathe, KS, Sadie Johnson of Independence, MO, Joe Bourne of Topeka, KS, Cassie Richardson (Kennie) of Osawatomie, KS; great-grandchildren Scarlett Lyons, Luke Johnson, Lillie Johnson, Lea Johnson, Layton Johnson, Landon Johnson, Emelia Bourne, Cameron, Isaac, Lizzy, Elijah, plus one great-grandson on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Dan Johnson.
