The Mason City City Council will consider a $13,360 upgrade to existing video monitoring systems in police patrol cars.

The MCPS has 11 units that are mounted into their patrol vehicles.

Police Chief Michael Lashbrook told City Administrator Brent Trout in a memo that :Our in-car systems have proven to be valuable tools in documenting officer patrol activities and useful in court proceedings, training and investigating citizen complaints.”

L3 Communications is the preferred vendor the MCPD wants to use for the upgrades. The MCPD has $14,000 budgeted for the project.
