MASON CITY – Tipsters have alerted NorthIowaToday.com that construction workers, while working on the downtown Mason City Streetscape project, ruptured a water main and a business in the area was flooded. This is another setback in a project that is already behind schedule.

Bad weather, asbestos removal, and “the unexpected delays of demolition and excavating very old ground” have caused numerous delays on a project that was supposed to be completed by Fall 2010.

Most businesses along North Federal in the construction zone are open for business even through the construction. North Iowans are encouraged to visit these businesses and show support while the Streetscape project is in progress.
