BLUE GRASS – An Iowa man was paid a visit by authorities after they received a cybertip that he possessed child pornography.

CHARLES CITY – A costly auto accident in Charles City resulted in one wrecked vehicle, serious damage to another, and a ticket for one driver.
Iowa Republican sent to prison for rolling back odometers on used cars to make bigger profits
CEDAR RAPIDS – An Iowa man who ran for state Legislature as a Republican and helped hatch a scheme to roll back odometers on used cars was sentenced to federal prison this month.

Sharon Lee Merfeld, age 88 of Nashua, IA, died Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Nora Springs Care Center surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Little Brown Church.
NIACC Student Catherine Dow wins top prize at 2024 Pappajohn student business competition
Catherine Dow is currently a freshman at NIACC where she is studying Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management. She was awarded one of three $5,000 prizes.

Iowa felon who posed as ATF worker to steal guns sent to prison for over 8 years
Suspect told an acquaintance that he was working for the ATF, and he needed to seize the acquaintance’s firearms, then took seven firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition from the acquaintance.

College Basketball: Iowa State Cyclones sign St. Mary’s transfer forward Joshua Jefferson
AMES – Iowa State men’s basketball coach T.J. Otzelberger has announced the addition of a fourth transfer to the 2024-25 Iowa State roster. St. Mary’s transfer Joshua Jefferson will join the Cyclones this summer.

The trade mission is planned for September 13-22, 2024, and will include Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and a delegation of agricultural and business leaders.
College Football: Iowa State Cyclones to open 2025 season with game in Ireland versus Kansas State
AMES – Iowa State will play its first-ever football game outside of the United States when it opens the 2025 season against Kansas State in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, August 23, 2025, at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
North Iowa Area Community College, Northeast Iowa Community College and One Cedar Valley receive federal Title I grant
The Title I grant funding will support initiatives that provide workforce services to youth and adults who face barriers to employment. NIACC, NICC and One Cedar Valley will use an employer-driven education and training services model to assist with meeting local workforce needs.
