Mason City woman guilty of three assault charges after bar fight

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman is serving a jail sentence after pleading guilty to three assault charges stemming from a bar fight.

Mason City police charged 23-year-old Jennifer Nicole Sanchez with three assault charges after incidents last year, on July 4, at the 000 block of South Federal Avenue. According to Mason City police, “on July 4, 2014, a bar fight was reported at Lorados. Sanchez was charged with 2 counts of serious assault and 1 count of simple assault from that incident.”

Sanchez pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to four days in jail. She was also ordered to pay $16,547.93 ($14,425.68 in restitution, the rest in fines and court costs.) She was also placed on probation for 18 months.

And why shouldn’t she have to pay restitution for damages? Why should other people have to pony up for expenses that she incurred? It might be physical damages or medical expenses. Either way, she owes it. Quit enabling criminals.

Nice looking young girl. I hope she straightens out. I am willing to be she never pays the restitution or fines. It is unreasonable to punish people with something they are unable to do. They do it with drunk drivers all the time. Then they take away their license so they can’t get to work. How stupid is that?
