MASON CITY – Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst visited Mason City Monday.
Ernst participated in a little-publicized “Chamber Roundtable” discussion at the North Iowa Commerce Center, 9 North Federal Avenue. Those in attendance were hand-picked by Chamber of Commerce Director Robin Anderson, a Republican source told NIT. The source said Ernst took easy questions from the small group of people, who were all Republican party supporters. Her campaign granted an interview to the Globe Gazette before the meeting, but made no announcement ahead of time that they would be in Mason City. Requests for information from the campaign went unanswered.
“Great afternoon in Mason City for a Chamber Roundtable with the Mason City Chamber of Commerce!” Ernst said via social media after her appearance.
Today, it was announced that Ernst received the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a right-wing organization that oversees chambers of commerce across the country.
According to a press release, “The United States Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1912 and represents the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions.”
What a conundrum. Joni Ernst is a flyweight with bad hair beholden to the tea party and no ideas of her own going forward. Bruce Braley, despite his farm family roots, is just a fat cat trial lawyer Washington insider out of touch with his past and the people he represents.
Almost wants to make you sit this one out.
This was a huge mistake on her part. She should be talking to all of the people and especially Independents. Republicans are already going to vote for her. The Independent just might not. Although, I really do no like Braley.
