Janice Haus age 84 of Nashua, IA, died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City, IA. She graduated Class of 1957, salutatorian, Ionia H.S.

Maxine E. Sommerfeld, 96, of Mason City, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Maxine grew up in Ventura, and in her elementary years attended country school in a one-room schoolhouse.

Verlynn Joan Hutchison passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Verlynn was born to Frank and Grace Lee on March 7, 1931, in Fertile, Iowa. She graduated from Fertile High in 1949.

Ronald “Ron” Hoffman, 75, of Charles City, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a strong battle with cancer. Ron retired from Charles City Community Schools in July of 2012.

Robert “Rob” Gilliland, 37, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. He graduated from Charles City High School in 2005.

Michael Ray Ohm of Coulter, Iowa, born in Guthrie Center, Iowa on April 4, 1957, passed away with family by his side on July 22, 2023.

Robert “Bob” Sidney Halford 94, died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Robert Sidney Halford was born July 8, 1929, the son of Sidney and Christine (Edmundson) Halford in Ventura, Iowa.

Ethel Francis Kiewiet was born September 5, 1929, in Frost, MN, to Bert and Lillie (Arnold) Dearing. She graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1946.

Jerome “Butch” Leach age 78 of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Joan D. Kentopp, 84, of Mason City, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. In 2017, Joan moved for the last time to an independent living apartment at the Willows in Mason City, Iowa.

Dennis Gene Stinehart, 80, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. He was a graduate of Mason City High School and also the Iowa State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture.

Dorothy “Dot” Kruggel Gerdes 102, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the Concord Care Center, Garner, Iowa, surrounded by her family. She attended high school in Clarion and Clear Lake, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1939.

Laura M. Truesdell, 84 of Clear Lake passed away peacefully Saturday June 17, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center after a three week serious battle with her health. Laura Marie was born December 28, 1938 in Eagle Grove, Iowa on a farm owned by Former Iowa Gov. Robert Blue.

Fred T. Flores, 97, of Mason City, IA, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mason City, IA. Fred Trujillo Flores was born March 21, 1926 in Mason City and spent his career with Lehigh Cement Company where he worked for 41 years.

Judy Miller, 82, of Ankeny, formerly of Waterloo and Marble Rock, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at the Bridges of Ankeny Care Center. Judith Ann Miller was born May 10, 1941, at Marble Rock.

Marlys Jean Zieckler, the daughter of Gene and Sylvia (Cassem) Strube, was born on April 2, 1955, in Estherville, Iowa. She passed away on July 15, 2023, at her home in Estherville, at the age of 68 years.

Douglas Martin Fitzgerald was born on October 25, 1974, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Larry and Kathryn (Mustard) Fitzgerald. Doug grew up in Emmet County, receiving his education in the Lincoln Central – Gruver, Graettinger, and Estherville schools.

Barbara Jean Krieger, 92, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, in Shawnee, Kansas. Barb and Jerry Krieger met in high school and were married at age 18 in 1950.  They lived in Mason City IA from 1959 until Jerry’s death in 2017.

Elizabeth R. “Betty” Morse, 86, of Mason City passed away peacefully surrounded by family Friday, July 7, 2023 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Betty was born on September 7, 1936 in Mason City. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1954.

Elizabeth ‘Bettie’ Babinski Huntley passed away on July 15, 2023, at Westview Care Center, Britt, Iowa; surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia.

James A. Franke, 75, of Dumont, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at his home under the care of St. Croix Hospice. He graduated in 1965 from Dumont High School and completed Barber School. He was then drafted to the USMC in 1966. He fought in Vietnam and returned back to his home in 1968.

Diane Loux, 75, of Sheffield, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Diane grew up in Iowa Falls, until moving to Clarion in 1964 where she met her future husband, Raymond Loux.

James Lynn “Jim” Dusold, 77, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Sheffield Care Center. He was a graduate of Newman High School’s Class of 1964.

Evelyn Margaret Crone, 102, died Saturday July 8, 2023, at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. Evelyn was born to John and Sophie (Orthel) Colter on October 21, 1920 on a farm north of Britt, Iowa.

Albert Jackson Gilbert, 100, of Thornton, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. He attended schools in Forest City, Iowa. Albert served as a member of the United States Navy during the Second World War.

Born to Arnold and Cecil (Mostrom) Johnson July 3 1947, he was raised on a farm near Northwood, Iowa. He was selected for the draft and served his time in the Army in Vietnam

Renee (Moodispaugh) Hissner passed away suddenly on July 10, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa with her husband Curt Hissner and friend Trisha Miller by her side. In life, Renee had many accomplishments including serving her community as a police offer for 10 years.

Helena Kopera Lamoreux, 97 of Mason City, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center. Helena was born December 17, 1925, in Brzeznica-Debica Poland, coming to America in October 1948. Those were the years before the Nazis invaded her homeland, making her a prisoner of war in Nazi Germany.

David John Otto Rhoades 27, of Mason City, Iowa, died July 6, 2023, in Mason City, Iowa. David attended various schools, with the last one being at Mason City Community School District.

Mason City-Bruce David Nauman 59, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his home. Bruce was employed with Curries Manufacturing for 33 years.

Dennis “Denny” Shollenbarger, 75, of Charles City, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1966 and attended NIACC for two years receiving a degree in business.

Keith R. Christians, 79, of Garner passed away peacefully at his home on  Wednesday, July 12, 2023. He graduated from Klemme High School in 1962. The summer after graduating from high school he met Barbara Peterson at the Klemme Roller Rink.

A proud Clear Laker for 60 years, Nada Stuart Oltrogge, 81, passed away Saturday, July 1, at her home following a brief illness.

Donald “Don” Wieland, 74, of Osage, died Saturday, July 8, 2023, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. He graduated in the spring of 1967 from Osage High School and worked for various farmers.

Ruth “Ruthy” Uetz, 79, of Charles City, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Bruce Whipple, 79, of Hampton, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton.

Betty Seeger Fink, 88, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Hampton, Iowa died July 5, 2023, at Keelson Harbour Memory Care surrounded by her family. Betty graduated from Hampton High School in 1953.

Meta I. Lage, 84, of Sheffield, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Meta passed away at the Sheffield Care Center.

Mathew Paul Brick, 58, of Mason City, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center-North Iowa. In 1992, Matt moved to Mason City, Iowa, to open his own store.

Elizabeth R. “Betty” Morse, 86, of Mason City passed away peacefully surrounded by family Friday, July 7, 2023 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Betty was a lifelong member of Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Church in Mason City.
