Donald “Don” Wieland, 74, of Osage, died Saturday, July 8, 2023, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. He graduated in the spring of 1967 from Osage High School and worked for various farmers.

Donald “Don” Wieland, 74, of Osage, died Saturday, July 8, 2023, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Pastor Cindy Krause officiating. Inurnment will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

Don was born November 9, 1948, to Fred and Edna (Engebretson) Wieland. He grew up on a farm east of New Haven. He graduated in the spring of 1967 from Osage High School and worked for various farmers, working with Helfter turkey farm and DeViere Hemann hog farm. In the spring of 1968, he met his future wife Sherry Pagel of Grafton, and they were married April 12, 1969, at Emmanual Lutheran Church in Grafton. Don and Sherry were married over 54 years and two sons were born: John in 1970 and Bryan in 1977.

The family moved to Forest City where Don worked for Winnebago and then moved to Osage working for White Farm and then later for Quality Pork for over 20 years, retiring in 2011. Don enjoyed woodworking and restoring old toys in his spare time. He enjoyed fixing many things over the years.

Surviving family members include his wife, Sherry; two sons: John Wieland and his wife Hope, and Bryan Wieland; three grandchildren: Grant Wieland, Garrett Wieland, and Natasha (Paul) Troge; two great-granddaughters: Kaylee and Haven, and baby boy Troge to come in August; sister, Dianna Hobkirk; sisters-in-law: Phyllis (Glenn) Ahlf, Jan (Jerry) Hackbart, Betty (Paul) Skram, and Jane (Mike) Conner; brother-in-law, Larry Pagel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Don loved his grandchildren and great-granddaughters. He will be so missed by his loved ones.
