Terry Johnson, affectionately known as ‘TJ,’ from Windsor Heights passed away on June 27th after a long battle with cancer. Born to Arnold and Cecil (Mostrom) Johnson July 3 1947, he was raised on a farm near Northwood, Iowa.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Sunset Rest Cemetery, with Pastor William Peters Officiating.

In 1969, he earned a degree in Entomology and also met his wife Deb while attending Iowa State University. He was selected for the draft and served his time in the Army in Vietnam. After completing his tour in Vietnam, Terry went to work for Orkin Pest Control. Terry started his career at Orkin as a Service Technician and worked his way to a Regional Manager position overseeing multiple branches. Terry had a lot of respect for Orkin and was a highly regarded manager within the organization.

Besides spending time with his family, Terry enjoyed fishing, reading, sudoku, and playing poker with his friends at the local casino. Terry could turn everyday tasks into a silly game or challenge. He knew how to make the most out of any situation. He even made an annual tradition of doing taxes together as a family followed by an evening of fun.

Those left to cherish memories of Terry are his wife of 50 years, Deborah; two daughters, Niki (Tim) Daumueller and Katy Thede; his four grandchildren, Olivia, Ben, Jordyn and Emma; great grandson, Coen; and his brother, Allen.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, sister Vickie, and granddaughter Paige.

Family would love it if you had a beer to celebrate TJ’s time here on earth. Here’s to you TJ, cheers and rest in peace.

In remembrance of TJ’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to: Kavanaugh House, 900 56th St, Des Moines, IA 50312.
