Nora Springs man hospitalized after snowmobile accident

PLYMOUTH – A Nora Springs man was hurt Sunday afternoon when the snowmobile he was operating struck a large rock and he was thrown from the vehicle.

On February 8, 2026, at 12:56 PM, Cerro Gordo County deputies responded to a single snowmobile collision at 21168 320th Street in Plymouth, Iowa. The driver of the snowmobile was identified as 23-year-old Benjamin Venenga of Nora Springs, Iowa.  Benjamin was traveling northbound on private property when he struck a large rock and was thrown from the snowmobile.  The sheriff’s office says Benjamin was not wearing a helmet and suffered injuries requiring him to be transported to the Mercy One hospital by Mason City Fire Medics.

Accident remains under investigation.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Plymouth Fire Department and the Mason City Fire Department.
