PALO ALTO COUNTY – A probation checkup at a rural Northern Iowa residence led to the discovery of meth and the arrest of two persons.
On January 24, 2023, at 5:26 PM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office went to 3484 440th Avenue in rural Emmetsburg for a probation check. While at the residence, a deputy located drugs and drug paraphernalia. A search warrant was applied for, granted by a judge, and executed on the residence.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office subsequently arrested both John Dwayne Gagen (age 59) of Emmetsburg and Andrea Crystal Lee (age 34) of Emmetsburg on charges of 3rd offense possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine (class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor).
Both Gagen and Lee were placed in jail to await an initial appearance in front of a judge.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Department of Corrections.
