Cindy Sue (Cottrell) Monaghan, 63, of Mason City, IA, passed away January 29, 2023, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401.
Cindy was born July 11, 1959, in Mason City, daughter of Erma (Kloberdanz) Dolly-Cottrell. She graduated from Mason City High School with the class of 1977. She met and married Jeff Monaghan September 22, 1989 at Central Park in Mason City. She worked as the department manager for Hobby Lobby and retired after fifteen years there.
Cindy enjoyed working on puzzles. She especially loved the big ones that she could spend a week putting together. While she worked on her puzzles, she’d look out through their sliding door at the many birds that would visit their feeder. She was a Minnesota Vikings as well the Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved watching car races. Most of all she loved being a grandma and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Jeff; sons, Jason (Heather) Monaghan, Shawn (Jillian) Elsbury, Jeremy (Laura) Monaghan, and Jason (Amy) Elsbury; grandchildren, Laina, Riley, Ava, Michael, Calan, and Eleri; sister-in-love, Connie White; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Erma; grandmother, Bonnie Walters; and brother-in-law, Jim Monaghan.
