HUMBOLDT COUNTY – This Northern Iowa man is accused of stealing a sleek black Cadillac, tipping back on some cold ones, invading a rural home, and forcing a husband to call 911 to defend his wife.

On January 13, 2026, at approximately 8:35 AM, the Humboldt County Communication Center received a 911 call from a male stating that his wife was home alone, and an unknown male had broken into their house and was still present with his wife. As deputies responded to the area of the 2600 mile of 230th St, an update reported the male had left the acreage driving a black Cadillac Escalade.

Responding deputies located the vehicle in the area and conducted a traffic stop. As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old Tyler Dille (pictured at top) of Humboldt, Iowa, was charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary in the 2nd degree (class C felony)

  • Operating under the influence (serious misdemeanor)

  • Possession of stolen property (class D felony)

The investigation also discovered the black Cadillac Escalade had been reported stolen in Fort Dodge a few hours earlier.

Dille has been placed in the Humboldt County Jail until his initial appearance before the magistrate.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Humboldt County Attorney’s Office.

This case should serve as a reminder to all residents to always keep their houses locked, spare house keys hidden in a secure location, and to never leave keys and valuables in unlocked vehicles.
