December 22, 1945 – December 30, 2025

LuAnn Hoth, 80, of Sumner, Iowa, passed away at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2025, surrounded by love.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at Faith Evangelical Church in Sumner with Rev. Brian Boehmler officiating. Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery of Sumner Township, rural Sumner. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Sunday, January 4th at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the Church on Monday.

LuAnn, daughter of Almer and Sophia (Kammeyer) Hoth was born December 22, 1945, in Sumner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church-Richfield, rural Sumner, milestones that reflected the faith that remained a big part of her life. LuAnn attended Sumner Schools and graduated from Sumner High School in 1964. Her professional career began at ThermaGas, prior to being a Pre-911 dispatch operator and later worked in administration at Todd’s Automotive & Radiator in Sumner. She was a faithful member of Faith Evangelical Church in Sumner where she served as secretary for many years. LuAnn was deeply loved and held a special place in the hearts of those closest to her. To her son, Brent, she was a constant source of love, connection, and devotion. To others who knew her well, she was someone whose presence brought comfort and a sense of being truly seen. Throughout her life, LuAnn faced significant obstacles with courage and resilience. Living with polio required her to overcome challenges that shaped her strength and determination, and she often blazed trails that made the path easier for those who came after her. Her perseverance was not something she announced–it was something she lived. She shared close and meaningful relationships built on care, trust, and love-connections that extended beyond circumstance and will always be cherished. LuAnn had a great love for puzzles, board games, knitting, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her sister, Marlys. She will be remembered not only for who she was, but for how she made people feel: loved, supported and understood. Her legacy lives on through the relationships she nurtured and the love she gave so freely.

LuAnn is survived by her son, Brent (Stacey) of Waterloo; grandchildren, Skyler (Bailey) and Alissa (Blayne); two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Lainey; sisters, Clysta (Dave) Frazer and Marlys (Fred) Heller; brother, Dean (Yvette) Hoth; sister-in-law, Karen Hoth; and other family members and loved ones who will carry her memory forward.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Daryl and Don Hoth.
