Mary Kay Diem, 89, of Fayette, Iowa, and formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, November 12, 2025, at MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center in Oelwein, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 17, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard, Iowa, with Rev. Randy Baldwin officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard and for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Interment: Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard.
The family encourages those in attendance to wear Iowa Hawkeye attire.

Mary Kay Bunn was born April 18, 1936, in Harlan Township, Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Letha Ora (Prideaux) Bunn. In 1953, she graduated from Maynard High School in Maynard. Over the years, she was employed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico and Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois. She was a past member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Maynard, and St. John Methodist Church in Davenport. In 2024, Mary Kay moved to Maple Crest Manor in Fayette. Mary Kay was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed attending Hawkeye football and basketball games. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, Iowa Hawkeye memorabilia, traveling, her grandchildren and phone calls to check in on family and friends.

Mary Kay is survived by her children: Jeanette (Jim) Schiavo of Appleton, Wisconsin, Donald (Lisa) Coble of Davenport and Judy Castrey of Rockford, Illinois; 11 grandchildren: Stacy (Conrad) Theisen, Jeremy Coble, Melissa (Gabriel) Torres, Robert Schiavo, Travis (Summer) Castrey, Nicole (Henry) Worcester, Jamie Coble, Danielle Schiavo, Samantha Schiavo, Jacob (Brooke) Castrey and Christopher Schiavo; numerous great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; her beloved dog: Herky; 2 brothers: Robert (Shirley) Bunn of Maynard and Don (Ann) Bunn of Maynard; 2 sisters-in-law: Judy Bunn of Maynard and Marj Bunn of Maynard; and many nieces; nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Daryl Coble; grandson: Todd Coble; son-in-law: Tom Castrey; 4 brothers: John Bunn, Paul Bunn, David Bunn and Albert Bunn; and 2 sisters-in-law: Janet Bunn and Loyce Bunn.
