RURAL FLOYD COUNTY – A woman is dead after the driver of the vehicle she was riding in swerved to miss a deer on the Avenue of the Saints.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, at about 2:35 AM Friday morning September 19, a 1998 Chevy S19 driven by 19-year-old Storm Gomez of Rossville Georgia was westbound on the Avenue of the Saints between Nora Springs and Rudd near county road T24 when Gomez swerved to avoid a deer. She over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle which proceeded to roll. A passenger, 54-year-old Monique Seuss, also of Rossville, Georgia, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Floyd deputies assisted at the scene.
