OBIT: Melanie Rose (McPhersen) Clay

Melanie passed away on Friday, October 17th, in Goldfield at the age of 60 years. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 25, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Eagle Grove Senior Center.

Melanie Rose Clay, the daughter of Arlan and Amy (Whipple) McPherson, was born on February 4th, 1965 in Iowa City. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating with the “Class of 1983”.

Melanie was united in marriage to Rick Clay on May 24th 1986, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together they had three children: Lucias, Nikita and Courtney.

Melanie worked for Bob’s Redemption Center, Dodger Industry, the Clarion schools and the Senior Center. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years and the family caregiver.

Melanie was a proud member narcotic anonymous and alcohol anonymous, where she was devoted to service work as a leader and sponsor. She enjoyed movies, puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Melanie passed away on Friday, October 17th, in Goldfield at the age of 60 years. She was preceded in death by her father, son, Lucias Clay; brothers: Ricky, Michael and Arlan McPherson; and sister, Laurie McPherson.

Survivors include her husband, Rick Clay; daughters: Nikita Ehlts (Nick) and Courtney Clay; mother, Amy Asche; sister-in-law, Shannon McPherson and multiple nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 25, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Eagle Grove Senior Center – 310 West Broadway Eagle Grove.

Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
