Marvin Oleson, 89, of Latimer, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Marvin and his family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Latimer. Burial will follow at Marion Center Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 until the service at the church on October 29.

Marvin Wayne Oleson was born May 6, 1936, in Hampton, a son of Russell and Viola (Meyer) Oleson. He grew up in Dows and graduated from Dows High School.

On November 10, 1957, Marvin was united in marriage with Carolyn Plagge at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer. They moved to their farm outside Latimer, and he lived and worked there until entering the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton three years ago.

Marvin served in the Iowa National Guard. He was active in 4H and FFA, later becoming a 4H leader. On the farm he milked cows, raised cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens as well as row crops. He also served on the Dows Co-op Board and was an usher at Immanuel United Church of Christ for many years. Marvin enjoyed collecting antique tractors and attending farm shows. He was a hard worker who was devoted to his family and farm.

Family members include his wife of 67 years: Carolyn; son: Kevin (Ann) Oleson; daughter: Teresa Penning; grandchildren: Blake (Olivia) Oleson; Hannah Oleson; Trevor Penning; Jared Penning; Stephanie Penning; brother: Dennis (Linda) Oleson; brother-in-law: Dennis Fahrmann; nephew: Jeff Fahrmann; niece: Amy Fahrmann; and friends.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Viola Oleson; daughter, Brenda; son-in-law, David Spangenberg; granddaughter, Sierra Penning; brother, Ivan Oleson; sister, Deanna Fahrmann; nephew, Scott Oleson; father-in-law, Walter Plagge; and mother-in-law, Alma Plagge.
