WATERLOO – A man is dead and a woman is fighting for her life in a hospital today after an early morning shooting in Waterloo.
On October 15, 2025, at approximately 3:45 AM, Waterloo police officers responded to 3137 Hammond Avenue on a report of shooting. Officers arrived and located two persons, a male and a female, who had been shot. Officers began lifesaving measures until Waterloo Fire Department personnel arrived and took over. The people were transported to local hospitals.
Police report that the male was later pronounced deceased and the female is currently in critical condition.
No names are being released at this time by police, and they claim there is no threat to the public.
Later, Waterloo police reported that the deceased male has been identified as 39-year-old Montana Lee Gunhus. The female has been identified as 28-year-old Hannah Rose Kelley and is still listed in critical condition.
