December 5, 1954 – September 14, 2025

Larry Kirk Brevig, age 70, of Kensett, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on September 14, 2025.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 6000 5th St, Kensett, IA 50448, with Pastor Linda Johnson Prestholt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Kensett Cemetery.

Larry was born on December 5, 1954, in Mason City, Iowa, to Kenneth and Dorothy (Heffel) Brevig. He grew up in Kensett and graduated from Lake Mills High School. While in school he shared a special bond- and plenty of pranks- with his twin brother, Garry.

On June 22, 1974 Larry was married to Diane Nelson. To their union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Tonya and Tricia.

On March 2, 1991, Larry married the love of his life, Marcella Bultman, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett, where they would later live together for many years.

Larry was the definition of a hands-on guy. Over the years, he held many hardworking roles including working with tractor tires at Goodyear, at Fleetguard in assembly, and serving as a railroad transporter. In his earlier years, he was a proud Boy Scout, and later in life, he served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 12 years.

A true tinkerer, Larry could often be found in his garage working on cars, random projects, or splitting wood. He had a love for the outdoors—camping, fishing, and doing yardwork. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and collecting diecast cars.

Larry had a deep love for his family and a soft spot for cats, always making sure they were well cared for. He was known for his quick wit, good-natured jokes, and always having the last word. His humor, loyalty, and heart will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived by his wife, Marcella Brevig; children, Tonya (Luke) Klunder and Tricia (Destiny) Brevig; stepchildren, Jeremy Cloutier, Nycole Missling, Nathan Cloutier, and Luke Cloutier; grandchildren, Larissa Muscianese, Grace Klunder, Ella Klunder, Olivia Hartiel, Katelyn Missling, and James Paul; siblings, Barb Peterson, Garry (LaVonne) Brevig, Kenneth Brevig, Mark (Lanita) Brevig; siblings-in-law, Frances Bultman, Ronald Bultman, Marlys Knopik, and Mary Ellen Velzke. He is also survived by many other family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his parents-in-law, Glenn and Marie Bultman; brother, Richard; sister, Darlene; two infant brothers, Terry and Michael; siblings in law, Teresa Brevig, Bonnie Brevig, Maynard Peterson, and Robert Oakland.
