MASON CITY – A missing person search in Mason City has taken a tragic turn this morning after she was discovered deceased in a storage unit.
At approximately 7:12 AM on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the Mason City Police Department was notified of an unresponsive female who was found in a storage unit. Officers and emergency medical personnel responded and found Kaylin Ingersoll (pictured at top from a previous alert about her missing status), age 34, of Mason City deceased. Ingersoll had previously been reported missing to MCPD on Friday, September 5, 2025.
A death investigation is underway. MCPD will await medical findings and results from the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in the coming weeks. Based on the information available to investigators at this time, there is no suspicion of foul play.
There are no funeral arrangements pending at this time.
Kaylin’s family would like to thank the public for their support and their efforts to help find her.
MCPD was assisted at the scene today by the Mason City Fire Department.
