WEST DES MOINES – One person was sent to a hospital after authorities in this Iowa suburb raced to the scene of a shooting, and police soon nabbed a suspect and introduced him to a swath of felony charges.
Around 3:14 AM on September 4, 2025, West Des Moines first responders answered a call to 8602 Westown Parkway. Police arrived and secured the scene. Two adults were found at an apartment, one with an apparent gunshot wound. That person was transported to a hospital for treatment of what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury.
Officials say they have identified and are speaking with everyone directly involved. The investigation remains open, but there is no on-going threat to the community.
Additional information about the Thursday morning shooting was soon released. West Des Moines detectives have arrested Harris Kpor. He was arrested without incident and has been transported to the Dallas County Jail. Kpor faces the following charges:
– Willful Injury (C Felony)
– Reckless Use of a Firearm (C Felony)
– Assault While Participating in a Felony (C Felony)
– Going Armed with Intent (D Felony)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (D Felony)
– Domestic Assault with a Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
– Possession of Methamphetamine (Serious Misdemeanor)
No update is available on the injured person’s status. Officials reported earlier the injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
