DALLAS COUNTY, IOWA – Three Iowa teens allegedly burned a bike trail bridge and now face serious charges after cops say they ignited a blaze they could not control.

Dallas County Detectives have arrested three individuals in connection with the fire that severely damaged a bridge on the Raccoon River Valley Trail on May 12, 2025.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the three individuals unlawfully entered an area beneath the bridge by bypassing a locked chain-link fence. Once under the structure, they started an uncontained fire and continued adding wood, causing the fire to grow significantly.

Embers from the fire eventually ignited the bridge above. Although there is evidence that the individuals attempted to extinguish the flames, their efforts were unsuccessful. At no point, did any of the three attempt to contact emergency services.

According to Dallas County Conservation, the estimated cost to replace the damaged bridge is approximately $896,000.

  1. Hey anon1, you jealous that you never had kids or do they want nothing to do with you anymore?

These “kids” (as previously mentioned by another commenter) should be put in a work camp and worked until death.

    1. No, Ryan, I am not jealous because I do have kids who I talk to quite often. They are even welcome at our house which I am sure makes you jealous. As far as their crime is concerned, I think you are overreacting but that isn’t abnormal for you.
