At least three new restaurants planned for Mason City

MASON CITY - City Hall in Mason City is currently reviewing plans for at least three new restaurants in town. Japanese hibachi in the former Red Lobster location and sushi and ramen in the former Papa's Cafe are among the projects in the works.

City Hall in Mason City
MASON CITY – City Hall in Mason City is currently reviewing plans for at least three new restaurants in town. Japanese hibachi in the former Red Lobster location and sushi and ramen in the former Papa’s Cafe are among the projects in the works.

According to documents released by City Hall, the Mason City Development Review Committee has reviewed plans to open new restaurants at the following locations:

2960 4th Street SW (former Papa’s). Proprietors are proposing a sushi and ramen restaurant here.

3229 4th Street SW (former Red Lobster/Las Palmas). Proprietors are proposing a Japanese hibachi restaurant here.

510 Village Green Drive (former Fazoli’s/Mason City Pet Clinic). Proprietors are proposing a Mexican restaurant here.

These projects are all in various stages of review and opening dates are as yet unknown, according to city staff.

  1. ugh. I’ll try each sushi place once, if they don’t measure up to ABACE they’re getting dropped.
