MASON CITY – The Mason City Fire Department was recently honored for their dedication to facilitating organ and tissue donation.
A ceremony was held this month at the Mason City Fire Department headquarters to acknowledge the accomplishment; the picture above is from them, receiving the award. According to a statement from the MCFD:
We are deeply grateful to the Iowa Donor Network for presenting the Challenge Coin Award to the Mason City Fire Department. This honor recognizes our firefighters’ critical role in the selfless gift of organ and tissue donation — a commitment that truly goes beyond the call of duty.
As EMS professionals, our team often stands at the point where hope and personal catastrophes collide. During these moments of adversity, their actions can provide a legacy of compassion and generosity that endures. This award is a powerful reminder of the lives saved through the selfless act of organ and tissue donation.
Our firefighters will proudly carry this recognition, knowing it symbolizes the small part EMS plays in the countless lives touched by these incredible gifts. Thank you, Iowa Donor Network, for this recognition, but mostly for your tireless efforts to bring hope to families and communities. Together, we continue to make a difference.
