CHICAGO, ILL – Barack Obama, the two-term President from Chicago, as endorsed fellow Democrat Joe Biden to take his former seat of power.
President Obama proclaimed his endorsement for his “close friend” in a video on Tuesday morning, saying, “I believe Joe has all the qualities we need in a president right now.” The video was almost 12 minutes long.
“Right now, we need Americans of goodwill to unite in a great awakening against a politics that too often has been characterized by corruption, carelessness, self-dealing, disinformation, ignorance, and just plain meanness,” Obama continued.
Obama waited out the Democratic primaries before weighing in with an endorsement. His announcement comes one day after Bernie Sanders proclaimed he was backing Biden.
The 2020 Presidential election, along with elections for the entire U.S. house and 35% of the Senate, will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
