OELWEIN – A Northern Iowa man was extracted from a house after he barricaded himself inside, leading to convictions for assault.

On April 19, 2024, at approximately 6:58 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a vehicle driving recklessly heading into oncoming traffic on Q avenue southwest of Oelwein. After an investigation, Fayette County deputies and officers from the Oelwein Police department arrived at a residence where they attempted to speak with a suspect. Joshua Michael Lillibridge (pictured at top), 24, of Oelwein barricaded himself in his residence and refused to come outside. A search warrant was later conducted, and Joshua Lillibridge was arrested for assault while displaying a deadly weapon (4 counts) and reckless driving.

Lillibridge was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaited his initial appearance.  He was later guilty of all four counts of assault as listed above.  He received suspended prison sentences.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oelwein Police Department.
