KOSSUTH COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man perished in a single-vehicle accident this morning near Bancroft.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff, on October 1, 2024, at about 9:25 AM, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a single vehicle accident southwest of Bancroft. The location was on 360th street about one-half mile west of 110th Avenue. Bancroft Fire and EMS along with Kossuth County EMS were paged to the scene.
Upon arrival, EMS and the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office determined that the driver had died at the scene as a result of being partially ejected from the vehicle, after it failed to negotiate a curve and overturned. The Kossuth County Medical Examiners Office was contacted to assist at the scene.
James Heldorfer, age 53 of Bancroft, was the only occupant of the vehicle. The Bancroft Fire Department and EMS used extrication equipment to assist in removing Mr. Heldorfer from the overturned vehicle.
Responding to the scene were the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Kossuth County EMS, Kossuth County Medical Examiners Office, and the Bancroft Fire and EMS Departments.
