MASON CITY – A woman was killed Wednesday in a fiery crash just outside Mason City.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. At about 12:34 AM early that morning, a 2022 Kia Telluride driven by 29-year-old Samantha Grant of Waterloo was eastbound on the Avenue of the Saints near mile marker 195 when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and entered the median. The vehicle struck a bridge pillar and became fully engulfed in flames.
As a result of the crash, Grant died at the scene. There were no other persons in the vehicle.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Floyd county sheriff’s office, Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office and the Worth county sheriff’s office.
