Iowa driver suffers medical condition, fatally crashes into building

LEON, IOWA - An Iowa man died as he was driving his pickup truck when he suffered a medical condition and crashed into a building.

LEON, IOWA – An Iowa man died as he was driving his pickup truck when he suffered a medical condition and crashed into a building.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Friday, August, 9, 2024. At 6:45 PM that evening, Leon, Iowa, 61-year-old Edward Ray Hiebing of Leon was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra eastbound on Highway 2 when his vehcile left the roadway so the south and struck a building. The Patrol says Heibing, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered a medical condition that caused him to leave the roadway and crash.

Heibing was transported to a local hospital but passed away as a result of the incident.
