
DUBUQUE – An Iowa man asked a group of teens why they were loitering near his car, and as the juveniles fled, one turned and fired a gun at the auto owner, leading to cops tracking and capturing the suspect.
On May 6, 2024 at approximately 11:50 PM, Dubuque Police officers responded to the 50 block of E. 26th St. for a report of gunshots. Josh Giegerich of Dubuque reported observing three juvenile males near his vehicle parked on the street. When he asked the juveniles what they were doing, they fled. As he ran away, one juvenile turned and fired a gun towards Geigerich. A single shell casing was located in the area where the shot was reported to have been fired. No damage or injuries were reported.
Utilizing traffic cameras and gaining information from interviews, the offender was identified as a 15-year-old Dubuque male.
On May 7, 2024 at approximately 10:45 AM, the offender was located in the 900 block of W. 5th St. and placed under arrest. During the arrest, drug paraphernalia was discovered in his possession. After consultation with the Dubuque County Attorney’s Office, the juvenile was charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Minor Armed with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
