Steve Carl was born April 11, 1974 in Mason City, IA to Lynn Carl and Nancy Elaine (Throne) Peters. Following his dad’s death when he was young, Steve was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Mary Jane and Mike Rawson, who he loved dearly. He graduated from Rockwell-Swaledale High School in 1993 and continued his education at North Iowa Area Community College and Iowa State University. Following his schooling he began work as a Commercial Applicator fertilizing fields all over North Iowa for AgVantage, Thornton Elevator, Cartersville Elevator, and Helena Elevator. Steve loved time in the fields in the big machines. In September 2013 he met Faith C. Eriksen on a blind date, and the rest is history. The couple was married August 1, 2015 on the Lady of the Lake on Clear Lake and began building their home.

Steve was a testament to the simple pleasures in life. His love for the outdoors was obvious, whether he was guiding his machines across fields, teeing off on the golf course, or revving up his motorcycle for an exhilarating ride. Steve’s zest for life was infectious; with a beer in hand and his beloved dogs by his side, he cruised through life, spreading laughter and mischief in equal measure. Evening rides with the dogs was a daily ritual he cherished. A die-hard Chicago Bears fan, Steve reveled in their wins- but he was known to swap sides at the thought of a loss. Whether he was crafting his own quirky lyrics to songs, firing up the grill or smoker to share his creations (there was always a portion for the dogs), or playfully teasing those around him, Steve’s spirit was as boundless as the open sky he so adored. He was known to spark up a conversation with just about anyone, and truly loved to talk and learn about others. And though Steve did not have a serious bone in his body, his love for his family, friends, and three canine companions was unwavering.

Surviving are his wife, Faith; three beloved dogs, Dylan, Zeek, and June; mother, Nancy Peters; brother, Doug (Michelle) Peters of Thornton; sisters, Kris (TJ) Guzzi, Shari (Michael) Rudawski, and Stacy (Vino) Vasquez; nieces and nephews, Taylor M. Peters, Ellyse and Ethan Rogers, Sam Schmida, and Jimmy Guzzi; father-in-law, David Eriksen of Rowan; Faith’s sister, Angelia Ingraham and her children, Jaeden and Mason; aunt, Debra (Ron) Trewin; uncle, Jim (Penny) Throne; as well as numerous cousins, and extended family that Steve cherished.

Preceding him in death are his father, Lynn; Mary Jane and Mike Rawson; paternal grandparents, Reva and Louie Peters; maternal grandparents, Edith and Luvurne Throne; aunts, Beverly Behr and Darling Mae “Tootie” Buchholtz; and uncle, Gary Peters.
