MASON CITY – A pair of NIACC softball players have been honored with Player of the Week recognition for their outstanding play.

NIACC catcher Madisyn Kelley was selected as the ICCAC Division II player of the week and Izzy Sloan was named the ICCAC pitcher of the week.

Kelley, a sophomore from Nora Springs, was 10 for 13 (.769) with five home runs with 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored. She helped lead the Trojans to a 4-0 week as they scored a total of 92 runs.

Sloan, a freshman from Indianola, was 2-0 in the circle for the Trojans last week. In victories over Ellsworth and Northeast CC, Sloan allowed one run and five hits with 16 strikeouts.

Kelley and Sloan are the fifth and sixth NIACC softball players to earn ICCAC weekly honors.

It is the first time this season that the Trojans have had the player and pitcher of the week in the same week.

Kelley and Sloan are the fourth and fifth different Trojans to earn the league’s weekly award. Others winners this season are Brynnlin Kroymann, Macy Kellar and Katy Olive (twice).

NIACC (18-14 overall, 7-3 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC doubleheader at Iowa Lakes in Estherville.
