DES MOINES – The battle between two key elements Christians believe in – God and Satan – met head-on at Iowa’s Capital as Kim Reynolds led a prayer session near a display honoring the devil.

“Today, faithful Iowans gathered in the Capitol rotunda to display the Nativity and pray for peace,” Iowa’s hard-right Governor, Kim Reynolds, announced Tuesday. “Free speech is a right afforded to all. But how we use it matters,” she uttered, not far from an elaborate, shiny display paying homage to Lucifer. The gleaming, silver goat noggin’s luminescence produced a blinding glare as the nearby Christians clenched their Bibles in the hopes that Jesus would chase Mephistopheles away from their precious law facility.

“Today’s event is proof that in the battle between good and evil, good will always prevail,” Reynolds preached. She didn’t say much about separation of church and state.

Earlier, Reynolds released a statement in response to the Satanic Temple display in the Iowa Capitol Building.

“Like many Iowans, I find the Satanic Temple’s display in the Capitol absolutely objectionable. In a free society, the best response to objectionable speech is more speech, and I encourage all those of faith to join me today in praying over the Capitol and recognizing the nativity scene that will be on display – the true reason for the season.”

“Was this a photo op?” one Iowa voter muttered over coffee Wednesday. “I mean, what is this Beelzebub monument doing in our Capitol. I thought they were there to make laws and set an example. I have no recourse now but to vote for Donald Trump, he’s the only one that can get rid of it. Now excuse me while I buy one of his new trading cards.”
