IOWA CITY – University of Iowa men’s wrestling freshman Gabe Arnold was named the NCAA Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.

Arnold made his dual and Carver-Hawkeye Arena debut and picked up his first career ranked win, defeating All-American and 11th-ranked Travis Wittlake from Oregon State, 4-2. Arnold and the Hawkeyes won the dual, 25-11.

The Albany, Georgia, native made it the fifth straight season that a true freshman competed in a dual lineup for the Hawkeyes.

Arnold (pictured above via Hawkeye Athletics) improved to 6-0 on the season and has four bonus point victories (three technical falls and a major decision).

The Hawkeyes return to action on Nov. 26 in Ames, Iowa, against Iowa State in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series dual.
