ROCKWELL – A Rockwell woman and an Iowa man were both hurt and hospitalized after a traffic accident in Rockwell.
According to Rockwell Chief of Police Cody Brunstein, the accident took place on the afternoon of August 3, 2023. At approximately 2:25 PM that day, the Rockwell police department was paged for a motor vehicle accident with personal Injury north of 155th Street and Highway 65. A silver Chevy Impala driven by Debbie Behr of Rockwell was in the south bound lane making a left hand turn, turning into the pit entrance (where the trucks and campers park for the Rockwell Tractor pulls). At the same time, a 2015 Chevy Silverado driven by Tyler Wittich of Gillett Grove, Iowa, hauling a car trailer with equipment was heading north bound made contact with the Impala impacting the passenger side of the Impala. The pickup dragged the Impala a short distance before coming to a rest in the north bound ditch.
As a result of the collision, both drivers were taken to Mercy One North Iowa for undisclosed injuries.
The Rockwell Police Department was assisted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Fire/EMS, Rockwell-Swaledale EMS and the Rockwell Fire Department.
The accident remains under investigation by the Rockwell Police Department.
