Stephen Edward Bonjour, 69, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, at his home. A public visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 10, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Stephen and his family.
He was born December 16, 1953, in Hampton, Iowa, to Leo and De Elda (Leimbacher) Bonjour. He graduated from Hampton High School with the class of 1973. Stephen married Cheryl Woltjer on June 14, 1974, at Church of Christ in Hampton. To this union two sons were born: Jason and Lucas. They raised their family together in Hampton.
Stephen worked at United Hydraulics in Hampton from 1973 to 1986. Later that year he started at Seabees, where he worked until his retirement in 2018. He lived a very relaxed life after retiring. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the area around Hampton.
Left to cherish Stephen’s memory include his wife, Cheryl Bonjour; sons, Jason (Crystale) Bonjour and Lucas Bonjour; grandchildren, Brett Bonjour, Sean Bonjour and Jayden Bonjour; and nephew, Brian Bonjour.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Darrel Bonjour, and nephew Allan Bonjour.
