Lavonne Ruppert, age 84 of Mallard, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Lentz Funeral Home in Mallard. Burial will take place at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mallard. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Lentz Funeral Home in Mallard and will continue one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday. A Rosary will be held at 4:00 PM prior to the start of visitation Monday.
Lavonne Marie Ruppert, daughter of Michael and Louise (Salts) Kollasch, was born on September 7, 1938 on their family farm in Whittemore, Iowa. She graduated from Whittemore Catholic School. On September 9, 1959, she was united in marriage to Roumain John Ruppert at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore. Lavonne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mallard and the Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. She was a part of St. Mary’s Guild. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cleaning, baking and collecting recipes, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Lavonne’s memory are her children, Larry (Linda) Ruppert of Mallard, Juliann (Bert) Naig of Cylinder, Eugene (Sue) Ruppert of Mallard, Carla (Mark) Mueller of Longmont, CO, and Darrell (Michele) Ruppert of Mallard; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Norma Lee Illg of Whittemore; and brother, Donald Kollasch of Algona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Louise, and husband, Roumain (2015).
