KNOXVILLE, IOWA — An Iowa man was killed Sunday afternoon when another driver rear-ended his motorcycle as he attempted to turn off of a highway.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 20-year-old Clayton Bennett Harsin, of Knoxville, was driving north on highway 14 near Knoxville, Iowa Sunday at about 3:30 PM when he slowed in an attempt to turn eastbound on a county road. Another Iowa man, 33-year-old Michael Lee Leggett of Monroe, Iowa was trailing Harsin in his 2003 Nissan Frontier, and failed to slow down, striking Harsin’s 1982 Yamaha motorcycle. Harsin was thrown from his bike as Leggett fled the scene.
Harsin was pronounced dead at the scene. Leggett, according to reports, was later caught and arrested. He faces unspecified charges as the investigation continues.
