WORTH COUNTY – A Northern Iowa child and a Minnesota man died in a Worth county auto accident.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on the evening of July 29, 2022. At about 10:20 PM, about a half mile north of Kensett, a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica driven by 24-year-old Maggie Harvey of Northwood was northbound on Highway 65, when the van crossed the center line. The van impacted head-on a 2002 Toyota Avalon driven by 45-year-old John Hinderscheid of Albert Lea, Minnesota. The impact sent the van rolling and it stopped in the middle of the roadway on its top. It was then struck by a 1999 International semi driven by 62-year-old Dennis Stoneking of Northwood, sending the van spinning and into the west ditch.

As a result of the collision, John Hinderscheid was killed. Also killed was a passenger in the van, 3-year-old Thielen Fausnaugh of Northwood. Donations may be made to the family at this Gofundme link.

  1. This story should be updated that her blood alcohol level was .127 4 hours after the crash when she was in the hospital. These people who donated should be asking for their money back on what went towards her own hospital bills and legal fees since her trial on 3 class b felonies starts tomorrow.
