DICKINSON COUNTY, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man put his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in a ditch, causing him serious injuries, authorities say.

The Dickinson county sheriff’s office investigated a single vehicle motorcycle accident that was reported on August 21, 2025, at 11:36 AM, at the 240th Avenue and 100th Street intersection. The sheriff’s office says 49-year-old Shawn Fiddler of Graettinger, Iowa, was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on 240th Avenue when he lost control and slid into the ditch at the intersection with 100th Street.

Fiddler was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with incapacitating injuries.

The Dickinson county sheriff’s office was assisted by Spirit Lake Police, Dickinson County Emergency Management, Jackson County Sheriff, Spirit Lake first responders, LRH Ambulance and Jennings Tow.
