Boy killed in personal watercraft crash on Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE – A second tragedy has struck Clear Lake this summer as the DNR reports a teen was killed in a personal watercraft crash on the popular body of water.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m., a collision involving two personal watercraft (PWC) occurred on Clear Lake, killing a 14 year old, who was operating one of the PWCs.  A 12 year old, who was operating a second PWC involved in the crash, sustained minor injuries to the face.  A passenger on the second PWC was not injured.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources was assisted at the scene by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and Clear Lake Fire and Rescue.

The Iowa DNR continues to investigate the incident.

Just a couple weeks ago, a young woman was killed in a freak accident when a tractor at a Clear Lake beach rolled and struck her.

If they were a Trump supporter they probably pay ur welfare benefits as well as give 10% to the church

I am sure 12 and 13 year olds are not thinking about drag coefficient when they are out riding a PWC. I doubt the parents are either.

It is Clear Lake! People that live on the lake think their shit doesn’t stink and they think they better then anyone else!

What was a 12 year old and a 14 year old doing operating those crafts on a public lake? I hope the parents know that they are the ones responsible for the death and injuries to their children. I pray that the thought of it is on their conscience and in their minds every second for the rest of their lives.

Iowa boating laws makes it legal. The law needs to be changed that you must be 16 years old to operate wave runners.

Thank you for sharing that. I’m sure it makes the parents feel so much better and helps them accept the fact that their child is dead. It’s so nice that people can find a reason to forgo common sense and parental love to follow the law and kill their own child because the law allows them to. Let the poor kid rot in his grave. His parents are completely without fault. Praise the lord for that.

Wow. Your halo must be glowing brightly for you to wish that on any parent. Either that or it has rusted to your head.

No halo involved. Anonymous said that Iowa boating law made it legal. Therefore the parents have no guilt or responsibility to what happened to their child. That must assuage their guilt and sorrow to no end.

“I hope the parents know that they are the ones responsible for the death and injuries to their children. I pray that the thought of it is on their conscience and in their minds every second for the rest of their lives.”

To me it sounds like you think you are God and you judge the parents as despicable, hoping they suffer immensely for their actions. That makes me believe you are a crusading punk who hopes for more devastation for people who are already devastated. Get off your high horse and have some compassion. You must be a Trump supporter.

Iowa boating laws are about 100 years old. It is time for a change.

No flotation device? Where were the parents?

It doesn’t say he drown. Those jet ski’s go 60 + mph. You can be 12 and ride one alone if you take a boating course.
