TOPEKA, Kansas – It’s a busy weekend for the UNI swim and dive team. The swimmers are in Topeka, Kansas for the Kansas Classic while the divers are in Evanston, Illinois for the TYR Invitational at Northwestern.
Prelims for both meets started Friday morning. All three divers qualified for evening finals, with Jayden Lovell placing 5th, Taylor Hogan placing 7th, and Anna Penning placing 8th in the morning prelims.
The Panthers had two swimmers qualify for the A finals in Kansas after the morning prelims. Kylie Engstrom qualified in the 500 free, placing 6th in prelims. Katie Taylor placed 4th in the 200 IM prelims, qualifying for the A final.
Jordan McCullogh qualified for B finals in the 500 free after placing 16th in prelims. Grace Considine and Lauren Vilims both qualified for C finals, placing 19th and 21st, respectively.
Moriah Ross qualified for B finals after placing 12th in the 200 IM prelims. In the 50 free, Sydney Schmidt qualified for B finals, placing 9th in prelims. Madeline Webb and Helena Heuberger, placed 20th and 22nd in prelims, qualifying for C finals.
In the finals portion of the night, Kylie Engstrom placed 6th in the 500 free with a time of 4:54.70. Jordan McCullough placed 12th while Grace Considine placed 20th and Lauren Vilims placed 22nd.
Katie Taylor placed 4th in the finals for the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.70. The 200 free relay team of Katie Taylor, Sydney Schmidt, Moriah Ross, and Madeline Webb took 8th with a time of 1:35.18.
