“We are striving to be fiscally responsible with your tax dollars, and I am proud to announce Iowa will end the fiscal year with a $127 million surplus,” Gov. Reynolds said. “Our economy is growing, incomes are rising and our state’s budget is a reflection of that. But I’m never satisfied. I’m going to continue to push for policies that grow our economy, invest in education and affordable health care and maintain Iowa’s status as the #1 state in the country.”

Under Branstad and Reynolds, my tax liabilities have sky rocketed!!! Of course Iowa is finally showing a surplus, they’ve increased tax burdens to working schmoe’s like you and me. I pay more tax at the pump every time I fill up my car. My property tax bill has increased over 50%!!!! And every July, it sounds like a darn war zone outside my house for 3 or 4 weeks with the fireworks these numskulls had to legalize to increase state revenues.
And with all this extra money they’ve took from me, they can’t even fund education in this state?!?!?!?! AND we’re ranked 40-something in the country for economic growth?!?!?!? Tell me again why any sane person would vote for Reynolds???
K- 12 schools were shorted $100 million and state universities had to raise tuition because they were shorted.
Several hundred million extra was funneled to privatized Medicaid.
The rainy day fund is about $250 million short. Farm revenue will fall short because of tariffs.
Iowa’s finances are not in good shape.
Elect Hubbell. He’ll get rid of the budget surplus and raise your taxes. And of course he’ll have to spend us into a deficit.
Guess again little buckaroo.
Iowa is 37th among the states in debt and 40th in per capita debt all due to Branstad & Reynolds.
Reynolds has mismanaged the budget and shortchanged needed government services such as education and health care.
Evidence?
Reynold’s is blowing smoke out of her ass.

Cut those public service benefits and pensions and there will be lots of money.
I think it should go to the managed care providers so they can share it with their stockholders.
That’s what happens when unemployment is low. More people working equal’s more taxes being paid equal’s a surplus. Something tax and spend liberals will never understand.
It’s far more complex than that, buddy. Iowa’s employment numbers are not nearly as healthy as you think and our demographic profile is VERY unfavorable towards future economic growth.
ya and she better hurry up, only 4 days left in the fiscal year.
give her a cpl of days, she will find a way to spend it
No, she won’t. She isn’t a Democrat.
Wrong again, the State fiscal year ends in June, the numbers reported here are the final reconciliation of the actual numbers.
Democrats are wrong all the time.
