MASON CITY – A Mason City man awaiting trial and a plea hearing for drunk driving last September was caught allegedly intoxicated behind the wheel again this weekend.
A Mason City police officer conducted a traffic stop just after midnight on Saturday, February 10 at 4th Street SW and Crescent Drive. After an investigation, the officer found that the driver, 31-year-old Timothy Philip of Mason City was driving with a revoked license due to a drunk driving arrest last September. Allegedly, he also had no insurance, interfered with the officer’s work, failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and showed signs of intoxication. Philip was arrested and taken to jail.
Philip is awaiting a February 20 plea hearing for a September 24, 2017 arrest by the Iowa State Patrol in Cerro Gordo county for drunk driving.

Most drunks are not smart enough to call for a ride. So they get what they deserve. Hopefully an OWI arrest would wake a person up before they kill somebody.
The idea of going to a bar in a car is foolish nowadays. Soon they will lower it even more to .05 nationwide. One glass of wine or a beer is then right at the limit. Rural areas have the highest conviction rates. Yet liquor sales are at a all time high in Iowa. Imagine how cool it is to drive sober with no worries. Now this poor fellow is doomed for many years to come. The way to roll is with uber or lyft services. Enjoy a night out at a wonderful bar then catch a random ride home. Big city bars are always thriving. Ladies night women drink for free all night long. Drink specials galore. Dancing to music. Good times with no worry of arrest.
If your a bar owner around here you need your own taxi service connected to the bar or your days are numbered. Where talking a big fat party bar where you can have some fun and makes some money. If you want to eat some food and stare at a tv go to the joint down the street. A good bar takes care of it’s patrons.
It would be nice to have Uber here in the area, but it is not here.
