Northern Iowa man allegedly assaults son and deputy at fair

WEST UNION, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man was spotted by law enforcement allegedly inflicting and injury upon his young son at the fair, leading to the man’s arrest on multiple charges.

On July 27, 2017 at 11:55 PM, a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy during the Fayette County Fair and on the Fayette County Fair Grounds observed Shannon Daryl Tiedt, age 40 of Fredericksburg assaulting a small boy on the grounds. The deputy observed a serious assault on the 8-year-old male who was the child of Tiedt. The 8-year-old boy was checked for serious injuries and later returned to his mother. Tiedt was arrested and during the arrest he resisted and the deputy sustained minor injury.

Tiedt was transported to the Fayette County Jail and charged with Child endangerment an Aggravated Misdemeanor and Interference with official acts causing injury, a serious misdemeanor.

The department of Human Services was contacted and they will be conducting an investigation also.

Tiedt was released after posting $5000.00 cash bond.

Certainly warrants hearing both sides before making a judgement call on this one.

I am willing to bet the deputy over stepped his bounds, more then likely this was a father disciplining his child, the deputy being all knowing and mighty told the father how to raise his child and this sort of discipline was “wrong”, the man probably told the deputy to go to hell that the government wasn’t gonna tell him how to raise his child. . . . Much like the Adrian Peterson case. I personally feel this is BULLSHIT by the government!
